Important Information

Please see below for my booking days and times, access, cancellations and late booking and GDPR statement.

I am available to see clients during the day on weekdays. I am often well booked up and I’m more likely to have slots earlier in the mornings or between 1pm and 3pm. Please contact me to ask about availability.

I prefer to see clients face-to-face. I have an intuitive approach and greatly prefer being able to pay close attention to my client’s body language, breathing and so on. However, after the initial consultation and 2 or 3 sessions, I am often happy to see clients remotely for occasional sessions. If clients are unable to access my flat for disability related reasons, I may consider home visits but will need to consider my travelling time and the suitability of the location.

If I can’t fit you in, I have a couple of therapists offering comparable services that I recommend if you get in touch or go straight to – 10 Hypnotherapy with Frances Billi‑Holder.

Access and Location

My therapy room is based in Norfolk Square, Brighton. It is very well served by buses direct to the Norfolk Square stop. Parking is possible but expensive at more than £5ph – however, you can park for free in Waitrose, which is about 4 minutes walk away, for 90 minutes.

Access is via a single flight of steps. Please let me know if that would mean that you are unable to access the building and we can discuss as solution.

Cancellations and Changes

If you need to change the day or time of your appointment, please contact me as soon as possible – I am often able to be flexible. I will try to accommodate changes more than 48 hours from an appointment, but if I have nothing suitable available, we may need to postpone for another week – no charge. For changes less than 24 hours from an appointment, again, I will try to accommodate the change on the same day, but if that is not possible, I will charge for the full session.

There may be times, such illness, when I am unable to proceed with a session. I will do my best to let you know as soon as I can – please do check to see if you have any messages from me.

Arrivals and Late Arrivals

Please do not arrive more than a couple of minutes before your appointment time – I need a break between clients to get my paperwork and the room ready.

Please contact me to let me know by Whatapp if you will be late (I cannot take calls if I am with a client). Sorry, but if you are more than 20 minutes late for whatever reason, the session will not go ahead and there will be a full charge. For no-shows, there will be a full charge.

GDPR – Your Data and How I Store and Use It

The General Data Protection Regulations control how all of our personal information is gathered, used, stored and deleted. It is a requirement of my insurance, and it would not be possible to work well with clients, if I did not ask for information about you that is personal and may often be sensitive.

I need to know your age, have your contact information and to ask about any medical or other matters that are impacting your life. Additionally, I am required to ask for the name of your GP as, occasionally (rarely), I will need to ask a potential client’s medical advisor if hypnotherapy is a suitable form of therapy. I would always seek your permission before making any such contact. You may, of course, withhold that information but in some situations that may mean that I decline to work with you.

As well as medical information, I will ask you to tell me if there are other matters in your life that may be impacting how you are at present – it is for you to tell me what you think is relevant and I will retain a record of that information. Additionally, it is a requirement of my insurance and of the professional bodies to which I belong, that I keep a record of our discussions week to week.

I will keep the information securely, locked in a cabinet or, where electronically, in an off-line location. It is a requirement of the National Council of Hypnotherapists that I retain information on adult clients for 8 years after our final interaction and, up to the age of 25 for a child under 16 when last seen or 26yrs for 17-18 year olds.

As a result of these requirements, while you have a right to see all of the information that I retain about you (I have 30 days under the GDPR to share it with you – I will always try to send it sooner than that) but I will not be able to delete it until the above time periods have passed. After that time, I will securely destroy the information.

Confidentiality

I will keep all information about you in strict confidence. As noted above, very rarely, I may need to ask for advice from a client’s medical advisor and, in that situation, I would need to share some of the information we have discussed.

It is also a requirement of the codes of conduct of the professional bodies that I work to, that I have regular supervision so that I can discuss, in complete confidence, any concerns I have about my clients and to seek their views on my approach. When I do so, I will not provide any information, such as a name, that might identify the client.

Occasionally, we may pass each other on the street and I am aware that some clients may not want it revealed that they are seeing a therapist. In that situation, I will not make contact or indicate that I know you unless you initiate contact.

Keeping in Touch

We will mostly meet about once a week. In between sessions, it will be helpful if you can let me know as soon as possible if you may need to rearrange your coming sessions. Within reason, I will also respond to questions about sessions but other than simple points of clarification, I am likely to ask you to keep points to discuss the next time we meet.

Anything Else?

Please get in touch and I will do my best to answer your questions.
